Shalom and Salaam Jerusalem
Song and lyrics by Rob Schrama

Sisters and brothers
We are all one family
Singing and praying for Peace
We are living together
In this Old Jerusalem
Can’t we live here at ease?
By singing shalom and
by singing Salaam
Together we all shall pray
Shalom and Salaam
We love Jerusalem
City for all, hurray
Shalom and Salaam
We love Jerusalem
City for all, hurray

We struggled too long for
Possessing this place
Belongs it to you or to me?
The only who owns
my Old Jerusalem
Is Allah, my God don’t you see
We give back the city
to whom it belongs
Almighty Allah God Ha-shem
By singing shalom
and by singing Salaam,
Together we all shall pray,
Shalom and Salaam
We love Jerusalem
City for all, hurray

Hear, hear, my friends
This is not a fairytale
Jerusalem is the place to be
For Jews and Palestinians,
Who choose deep in their hearts
For love and unity
We are hugging the walls
of our Old Jerusalem
Together we all shall pray
Shalom and Salaam
We love Jerusalem
City for all, hurray
Shalom and Salaam
We all love Jerusalem
Our city will be united one day.

New Jerusalem
Song and lyrics by Rob Schrama

A bright new city is arising
Along the nearest horizon
The walls around are shining
In the blazing warming sun
The times are really chancing
A whole new world will be born
We call it
Jerusalem
A New Jerusalem
Capital for every person
For Jews and for Moslems
Jerusalem
A New Jerusalem
A place for all nations,
For all prayers, Jerusalem

Palestinians and Israelis
Give to peace all your support
The whole Old City is holy
Is God’s own resort
Do not fight to possess
Reconciliation is what will fit
To get a
Jerusalem
A New Jerusalem
Capital for every person
For Jews and for Moslems
Jerusalem
A New Jerusalem
A place for all nations,
For EVERYBODY
Jerusalem

Prayer

Song and lyrics by Rob Schrama

Why do we have a separation wall
Why do we always live in fear
Crying behind that stupid wall
Dying behind that stupid wall
Why we are not united here

Why do we cause so many pain
Why do we always hurt and kill
Dying children in the streets
Crying mothers in the streets
Why Lord, please tell me why!

It was You who ordered Moses
To obey the Jubilee
Time to give back what not belongs to me
Time to forgive my neighbor,
And respect his property
Why, for God’s sake, did I not agree?

Why do we occupy what not belongs to us
Why do we always raid and attack
Killing choppers in the sky
Killing rockets down to the earth
Why do we not live in harmony

Why do we not share Jerusalem
Why do we always say: ‘t belongs to me
Bombing in Jerusalem
Demolishing in Jerusalem
Why we are not One Family

Lord please forgive my failures
I promise to make a change
I‘ll give back what not belongs to me
I promise to forgive my neighbor
And respect his property
It is time to live in unity

Let’s holding hands around Jerusalem
Proclaim the city for everyone
Singing in Jerusalem
Dancing in Jerusalem
Open your heart
And we are united then.

Let’s holding hands around Jerusalem
Proclaim the city for everyone
Dancing in Jerusalem
Loving in Jerusalem
Share our hearts
And we are One.

Shalom Chaim.
agree completely with the points about not "blaming and shaming all of those who are working towards a political solution" - are these Eliyahu's words?

but disagree with the points about "With this text it will be VERY hard for us to market the hug, to get permission form the police, and to convince others who claim that they are working for peace to join us." (are these Chaim's words?) as yrs truly sees it, what The Hug is all about is encouraging all of us to come together & manifest (and DEMAND!) a peaceful coexistence. it's not about marketing, or pleasing the police, or playing things safe. it is not about what we CAN'T do, but what we CAN do. of course, The Hug is not intended to be excessively confrontational , but as Jeannette points out, "when we only speak about "people coming together", instead of "Israelis and Palestinians and peacepeople from all over the world" the text becomes rather powerless." please let us not compromise our vision!

Dear all,

Reading the remarks again and again, I realise it will not be easy to find words that will be good for everyone.
F.e.when we only speak about "people coming together", instead of "Israelians and Palestinians and peacepeople from all over the world" the tekst becomes rather powerless...

Subject: Very Important for Jerusalem Hug Team Re: Newsletter Jerusalem Hug

Dear Team

Today I received the email below

I request that we Cease immediately to distribute it, until some minor
changes are made. if we continue with the present text, we may be
defeating the purpose of the hug.

As a team we should work together to not only coordinate the hug, but
also to write and develop TOGETHER the content

one of the purposes of the hug is to inspire those who each of us have
been indoctrinated to regard them as the other, or as our enemy, to
inspire them to be our friend..and to work together for peace and
unity.

the statement in the flyer and PDF

"
The JERUSALEM HUG is a symbol for another way to achieve peace.
Everywhere the belief in a political solution of
the Middle East conflict has gone down to almost zero.We must find
another way and that is the way of the heart.
We believe that when we find peace in ourselves and when we are able
to forgive, world peace will come closer"

smells of blaming and shaming and saying that the other is not right (
gone down to almost zero), and we have a better idea (another way to
achieve peace)

that is NOT the way to convince people to come and to participate

What right to we have to say "Everywhere the belief in a political solution of
the Middle East conflict has gone down to almost zero"

that implies that we are blaming and shaming all of those who are
working towards a political solution.

I am not sating that the statement may or may not be true (and those
of of you who know me well know exactly how i think and feel), BUT if
we distribute the flyer to our friends who still believe and work very
hard to achieve a political solution, we are in a sense alienating
them, and causing them NOT to come and NOT to support the hug, as
apriori we are saying that they have failed and that they are wrong
and we have a better idea

so leave out

"Everywhere the belief in a political solution of
the Middle East conflict has gone down to almost zero"

and leave out

"The JERUSALEM HUG is a symbol for another way"

and maybe just wite something like (just an idea)

"
The JERUSALEM HUG inspires us to find peace in ourselves and when we
are able to find peace in ourselves, we can find peace bewtween
each other, and world peace will come closer"

eliyahu

please call me so we can coordinate how to approach pundak/yael et. al
and reschedule the unilateral which is scheduled for the exact time as
the hug
